of massive classic high shouldered form with cylindrical neck contiguous with steeply pitched domed cover and surmounted by ovoid knob; raised on flaring base; the whole decorated in the “Chinese” taste with blue painted ground, and various polychrome floral and foliate sprays with exotic birds on rockery ground, within gilt border

Possibly from one of Charles de Beistegui’s many 18th century inspired Anglo-Chinese follies at Chateau de Groussay in Montfort in l’Amaury , France . Similar tin urns with delft decoration, also by Jean Luneau and created in the 1950’s, sat in one of the gardens
